So i was in a costume shop the other day getting stuff for a 70's party (ended up being shit, but nevermind).. and i saw this as a mask. Out of it eh? I never realized MF was that big.
I got tickets to Diplo the other day, but not just that.. i'm also seeing De La Soul again but that's not the best bit, i'm also seeing Hypnotic Brass Ensemble!! Awesome eh? I saw tickets to Shapeshifter but they were almost as expensive as the tickets to De La so i'm going to give it a miss. There are quite a few cool acts here but you have to get in quick because they sell out fast, especially anyone known. The crazy thing was tickets to Diplo was like 5pounds, which is like the price of a mcdonalds combo. Saw a poster to see DJ Format but missed out on it. :(
So yeah, my job is going well. I can't remember what i've told you about it but basically i'm looking at the evolutionary ecology of Malarial parasites. When i say me, i mean the lab. I'm a research assistant :D and a valued research assitant apparently :D So yeah, we work with mice which is a bit sad because i have to kill things now, but it's all good i guess because they'll probably find a cure for mouse malaria before finding one for humans. :P ? Some of the shit is a bit above my head but i'm learning quite a bit. I learnt how to do some fluorescence microscopy the other day, which is pretty cool. I'm also pretty confident with the mice now so that's good. They aren't biting me anymore, little shits.
Life here is good. Edinburgh is a really beautiful city with lots of old buildings that they light up really well at night. The castle is pretty badass too and kind of dominates the city. I like it here. I live across the road from a big park and my room gets a lot of light in the morning :). It's a lot warmer now with Winter being over, and the days are REALLY long. Apparently in the middle of summer it gets to like 11pm before the sun goes down. Not quite there yet, but pretty good. Bit stink that the beaches suck here, but apparently there are some nice ones not that far out of town.
I moved in with 3 others that are pretty cool, though the two boys could clean a bit more and stop watching Two and a Half Men all the time. :P My other flatmate Debs moved in at the same time as me and is pretty cool. She works at the Zoo and just got offered a permanent job so she'll be a fully qualified keeper soon. She looks after the carnivores, which at that zoo are the lions, tigers, polar bear, bushdogs and wolves etc.. Yeah so that's cool.
Oh it's a nerd flat too, but probably a bit toooo nerdy.. like Dungeons and Dragons and stuff. It's getting bit too geeky in the lounge, even for me. Nah just kidding, it's actually pretty cool. :D i really enjoy living here.
I've made a few friends here, i met some people at the backpackers i stayed at when i first got here. Unfortunately 2 of them have moved away but i still see Amy and Sarah most weekends, and we're all getting together to go to Amsterdam in a few weeks too. Just going for the weekend but should be fun. I'm gonna spend the whole weekend stoned! :P nah, i'm going to take it easy and see the place. Apparently Amsterdam has some pretty awesome museums. Also, dykes. :P
Speaking of trips, I'm in the stages of planning a trip to New York. I've been thinking of going for a while and went to flight centre today. They have a good deal on flights which expires on Thursday so it's kind of a rushed job now but so far i'm planning on going for two weeks, will spend 5 days in New York staying with Judah (remember him? friend of Megan and I), then i'll go visit a couple of friends in Washington DC. I was going to go to Tokyo instead because Marci was saying i should go visit her and then Ed said he'd be going over but i got an email today from him saying his mum wont pay the airfare so he's not going... so i'll go to Tokyo next time. Probably a good idea as it will be a bigger more expensive trip than new york.
So i've been seeing this guy for a few months now and i've made some good friends through him too. His name is Ken (haha i'm pretty sure he's not Luke's dad) and he works for the goverment and is also one of the directors at the arthouse cinema. If i play my cards right i'll be his date to the red-carpet movie festival opening. Oooh celebreties :D
Hmm, well, guess that's me for now. I should go get some dinner. It's harder to find tofu here, i've been eating pretty crap. :(
Okay tootles
Take care
